I promised The Cat's PJs a little something on Neil Gaiman, and though it's taken me a few days, here we go; a really tame, kind of pointless story, involving Neil Gaiman.
As we all know, I was at the San Diego Comic-Con again this year, and again I was there with my good friend, The Limey. The Limey is always rather remarkably in the know about cool shit going down in Geekdom. This time through he asked me to meet him at a specific time & place to get some tickets to some thing. Turns out the Thing was a preview of the upcoming film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Coraline, which is being directed by Henry Selick, who also directed The Nightmare Before Christmas.
It's a Goth Girl wet-dream!
It also makes me pretty happy. I do rather love the book Coraline, and the Nightmare Before Christmas does rather tickle me (especially Oogie).
So, we get our tickets, along with shockingly few other people. It was a really small line, contained within an absurdly long line of people trying to get tickets to the preview of Balls Of Fury... it was kinda sad.
But there we were, among the very few who heard about and managed to get the free passes to the first public showing of the nearly 15 minutes of almost completed footage thus far assembled on the film, along with some motion tests. And right there with us were Neil Gaiman & Henry Selick. they spoke for a bit, and Neil ended up on the topic of some internet rumor regarding how much he dislikes Teri Hatcher. for the record, he has nothing against Teri Hatcher... he also wanted us to know that he does not believe that Teri Hatcher is an evil spider woman.
After the brief presentation we were handed these posters:
(mine is numbered 76/400)
& signed them for us all.
Not a bad way to kill an hour on a summer evening.
Oh, and my birthday is Monday, so don't fuck around.
